When we rolled into Lake Havasu State Park in our RV we had no idea that it was the same weekend as the famous Desert Storm Poker Run boat races. This meant that not only did we have the most incredible lakefront camping spot for a couple nights, but we also were able to go to the street party that happens a couple days before the actual races. The street party was a ton of fun for everyone – there were dozens of incredibly fast and expensive boats on display, the over-the-top trucks and trailers that they are towed with, and a ton of music, food, and good times to be had.
After camping in more than 40 campgrounds, our site at the Lake Havasu State Park has been our favorite so far. We had a beautiful lakefront view with our living room windows pointing right at the sunset over the California mountains on the other side of the lake. The water was still a bit too cold to play in, but that didn’t keep the kids from having fun on the sand while we enjoyed an absolutely stunning sunset. We will definitely be back to this park, and hopefully for a longer visit!
