Living Room Tour Part 1 – An In-Depth Look at Our RV

Let’s move this in-depth tour of our 2018 Grand Design Reflection 312BHTS into the main living space. This area serves many functions – kitchen, living room, entertainment room, work space, entryway, and school room. Having a central, multi-functional space is common in RV’s, and this is one huge reason we love the floor plan of this rig. There are two slide-outs on either side which open up and give us a ton of space. There’s no wasted floor space though because we have a nice big kitchen island right in the middle of everything. One slide contains all of the kitchen and entertainment center items while the other contains all of the seating in the room, including our dinette.

Two Angles for One Awesome Space

Let’s take a quick look at this space from the other direction so you get a better sense of what’s where. The below photo was taken from the bunkhouse doorway looking toward the front of the rig.

RV Tour - Living Room Part 1

If you go back and forth between the two photos you’ll notice that we have two “hutches” at either end of the room. There are a few differences in the two, and we’ll get to the details on that in upcoming posts this week. We also have cabinets above and below the TV, a large drawer under the oven, cabinets and drawers under the island, and two huge storage spaces under the bench seats in the dinette. We definitely aren’t lacking storage space in here! Add the double-wide fridge into the mix, and we have everything we need to live comfortably in here full-time.

Speaking of comfort, those two recliners are pretty amazing, and we love that they’re directly across from the TV. If you watched any of our bunkhouse tour videos from the 2019 Florida RV Supershow then you know we’re big fans of properly position TV’s. Many floor plans have the TV at an odd angle with the seating, and we really don’t like that.

Living Comfortably in a Tiny Room

It’s probably pretty obvious, but this space gets the most daily use out of everywhere in the RV. Stick around for the next set of posts as we go even more in-depth into each area in our living room. We’ll fill each post with tips and tricks of how we use the different spaces as well as ideas for you to keep in mind if you’re looking to buy a new rig or do some modifications to one. If you didn’t see our posts showing off the bunkhouse in detail, check them out here.
